CPR for Professionals

Who this course is for
This course is intended for medical professionals such as doctors, nurses, paramedics, medical technicians, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, doctor’s assistants, registrars, interns, medical and nursing students, aides, medical and nursing assistants and other allied health personnel.
What the course covers
CPR for Professionals is a locally produced course designed to teach skills for both the in-hospital and out-of-hospital setting including:
- CPR for adults, children and infants as a single rescuer and as a team member
- Ventilation with barrier devices / pocket masks,
- Use of the BVM with supplemental oxygen during CPR
- Using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Choking / Management of an obstructed airway
The course is accepted as a prerequisite for advanced courses in resuscitation, including Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Neonatal Life Support (ANLS), BLS and Local Instructor courses.
A CPR for Professionals student manual is provided to each participant before the course begins.

Certification
On successful completion of the course, HPSCA registered candidates will receive 5 CPD points.

CPR for Everyone
BY ARRANGEMENT ONLY
Who this course is for
This course is ideal for those who may need to perform CPR in their workplace such as security personnel, law enforcement officers, firefighters, lifeguards, swimming coaches, health and fitness staff, corporate and retail employees, anyone employed to look after children and other lay responders.
What the course covers
The CPR for EVERYONE course teaches the techniques:
- CPR for adults, children and infants
- The use of barrier devices and pocket masks
- The use of the AED
- Dealing with choking for patients of all ages
- How to activate the emergency services.
A manual is provided to each participant before the course begins.

Certification
An RCSA certificate is issued for successful candidates valid for 2 years, as well as 4 CPD points for HPCSA registered candidates.

First Aid Essentials for Children
BY ARRANGEMENT ONLY
Who this course is for
This course is aimed at those who may need to provide CPR and first aid directly to children. It is intended for any layperson wanting to learn first aid essentials for children such as parents, family members, caregivers, domestic workers or anyone else who may be responsible for a child at risk of sudden death.
What the course covers
The course provides practice skills of first aid for children in the home environment and includes:
- CPR
- Using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Choking / Management of the obstructed airway
- Accident prevention.
- Medical emergencies.
- Trauma injuries.
- Environmental emergencies,
A student workbook is provided to each participant before the course begins.

Certification
After completing the course, each participant will receive a Certificate of Attendance. CPD points = 7
This course is an attendance only course and is not accredited as a level 1 first Aid course by the Department of Labour.
